The lock with key and mechanical combination requires the addition of the release of both closure systems to be open. The addition of the combination increases the difficulty of mechanical manipulation by a possible attacker and allows, where possible, to leave the key hidden in the rooms adjacent to the safe. In fact, even having the key can not unlock the lock without knowing the code of the mechanical combination.
The lock is a mechanical combination lock only very reliable and does not imply the need to preserve keys. Maintenance is minimal, but it requires a very high precision use. In fact, this type of lock is affected by the relative difficulty of use. The main mechanisms are mechanical combination coaxial disks (in versions with spring, lever or clutch lever gravity), to direct input (usually used in economic models) and multiple buttons.
The electronic lock, now widespread in the safes, ensures ease of use and only need to store a numeric code. Clearly, as all the electronics, may be subject to malfunctions that may require the intervention of a technician to unlock it.
